Making
an impact
 The following drills are designed to help you strike the ball more solidly and are of particular use to those
golfers who are high ball hitters or prone to hitting lots of fat shots.
I’ve noted that a number of amateurs tend to unhinge their wrists too fast, bringing the club too shallow
on impact. The result of this is, of course, fat shots, high shots and toped shots. So if you’re one of those
battling to hit the sand wedge 70 metres, read on! Fig.1: Here you see a yellow bag, commonly referred
to as the impact bag – originally made famous by Henry Cotton. Using this will help keep your left arm,
and the shaft of your club, straight on impact. If you don’t have an impact bag, simply find a corner
at your range or home where you can line up your arm and club to the wall.
